Abstract

We report a case of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy who presented with sudden onset visual field defect. A 41-year-old man complained of sudden onset left-sided visual defect and dizziness. Brain MRI disclosed multiple high signal intensity lesions involving bilateral parieto-occipital lobes and corpus callosum with positive serum human immunodeficiency virus antibody. With an impression of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, we initiated highly active antiretroviral therapy, but the patient\¡¯s clinical course worsened to near total blindness.
